Water Filtration Service Now Part of Contoocook Artesian Well
Business
Making Well Water in New Hampshire Safer, More Appealing to Drink, and More Productive for Cleaning and Heating
|
Henniker, NH, November 18, 2004 - Contoocook Artesian Well Company, a 67-year old water
well drilling company, now offers a line of custom-built water filtration systems to
help homeowners remove a range of contaminates and minerals from well and city water.
To head up the filtration product line, the company brought on Larry Benjamin, an
entrepreneur who has been engineering and installing water filtration systems for
seven years.
"Often people perceive a problem when their water smells unappealing or stains appear
in sinks, tubs, and toilets," says Benjamin. "But radon, arsenic, e-coli, nitrate,
nitrite, and other minerals and contaminates can be present in unacceptably high levels
and the homeowner wouldn't know unless the water was tested."
Exposure to arsenic in drinking water is of particular concern in New England, where
soils and water in many regions naturally contain levels of arsenic that are
substantially higher than those found in other areas of the United States. Arsenic has
been classified by the Environmental Protection Agency as a cancer causing agent. Radon
is the second leading cause of lung cancer in the United States, according to the
National Cancer Institute.
"We recommend water testing as a starting point, so homeowners know exactly what they
are drinking, bathing in, and cooking with," continues Benjamin. "When we know the
issues of the water from a particular well, we custom-build a filtration system that
precisely addresses not only the specific water quality issue, but also the water flow
in a particular home. This is a benefit you can't get with an off-the-shelf water
filtration or softening system."
More than half of the nation's water supplies come from wells. Minerals and other
contaminates occur naturally in well water, but their presence in high levels affects
the taste, usability, and corrosiveness of water. Water filtration systems can make
water safer, more appealing to drink, and more productive for the cleaning, heating,
and plumbing of a home.
Contoocook Artesian Well Co. also engineers reverse osmosis drinking water systems for
homes that use public water. These systems can remove health-related contaminates such
as arsenic and radium as well as contaminates that affect the taste, color, and odor of
water.
